Clone Your Voice in 60 Seconds of Audio, Then Type to Narrate | Hey Subtitle

Let Your Next Narration Start With Typing

By the time you finish editing the video, you realize you missed an opening line. Your teaching content has been updated, and you need to add a new explanation. Your company updated the script, so the narration needs updating too. When this happens, the ability to type new copy and generate narration keeps your project moving forward.

In Hey Subtitle, you can build a voice from your own recording, then create narration by typing text. You only need one to five minutes of clear, low-noise audio to start — then you can focus on writing, listening, and arranging visuals.

Watch this 53-second demo with Chinese and English subtitles. See the complete workflow: providing your audio, building your voice, then typing text to generate narration — all in one go.

What Audio Do You Need? Start With What You Have

You have three ways to provide your voice: record directly in your browser using the microphone, upload an audio file, or upload a video that contains your voice. A video shot on your phone works too — you do not need new recording gear just to get started.

When choosing your audio, the key is clear speech and little background noise. A self-introduction, teaching explanation, or content demo recorded in a quiet space all work well. Make sure each sentence is easy to hear — that matters more than writing a fancy script.

If you already have a recording, play it once and listen for music covering your voice or conversation noise mixed in. If you are recording fresh, pick something you know well, read it at your usual pace, and read it clearly.

When building, check that you have the right to use this audio, then pick the language it was spoken in, and proceed.

Build Your Voice, Set It Up Once

After you log in, go to Voice Cloning, record or upload one to five minutes of clear audio, and follow the on-screen steps to build your voice. Once it is done, press the button to enter voice generation and start typing narration.

Narrate With Your Voice Right Away

Type a short piece you actually plan to use — like a video intro or teaching step — and let that first narration go straight into your work. You can follow the steps in The Two-Step Text-to-Speech Workflow.

Press Generate, listen to the result, and check whether the pace, pauses, and phrasing are smooth. Then edit the text, expand bit by bit to fill your whole script. For longer projects, see Narration Workflow and Script Tips.

Your cloned voice also supports Pronunciation Replacements, so you can save any words or phrases that need correcting and have them applied automatically next time.

When Is This Useful?

Creators: Add One Key Sentence to Your Video

A travel vlog is missing a location description, an unboxing video needs your review thoughts, or you want to add a closing line after editing is done — type what you want to say, then generate narration. Starting with what information the visuals need makes it easier to write clear, useful narration.

You can also collect your usual opening and closing scripts at the start of a series, then adapt them for each episode. Next time you make an episode, you have a clear jumping-off point.

Teaching Creators: Let Explanation Keep Up With Content

Software steps changed, teaching materials grew, or students keep getting stuck at the same spot — all worth a new explanation. Write out "what this step does" and "what you see when it is done," then generate narration. That makes the teaching easier to follow along with.

One point per section also makes it easy to listen while watching the screen and check whether steps are in the right order.

Teams: Turn Recurring Information Into Usable Narration

Onboarding videos, product demos, training videos — all have information that needs regular updates and revisions. Once you have the right wording, terminology, and steps, make narration, and discussion can focus on whether information is clear and viewers can understand.

Free vs. Paid: How Long Does Your Voice Stay?

A voice built on the free plan is a preview, available for about two days. You can use that time to run through the workflow with your own opening or a short teaching script and get familiar with going from text to narration.

A paid plan keeps your voice in your voice library. After that, you can pick it anytime in the voice studio or when dubbing videos. When you need to make your next narration, just pick your voice from the library and start working with the new script.
