Terms of Service

1. Service Description

Subtitle Editor ("the Service") is an online subtitle transcription, translation, and editing platform. The Service uses artificial intelligence to convert video audio into text subtitles, with multilingual translation and editing capabilities.

2. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account, including protecting your login credentials. You are fully responsible for all activities under your account. Please notify us immediately if you discover unauthorized use.

3. Subscription Plans & Payment

• The Service offers a free plan and multiple paid subscription plans.
• Paid plans are processed through Stripe, supporting credit and debit cards.
• Subscription fees are automatically charged at the start of each billing cycle.
• Annual subscriptions are charged as a single payment for the full year.
• All prices are in Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) unless otherwise stated.

4. Minute Quotas

• Monthly minute quotas included in subscription plans reset at the start of each billing period.
• Unused subscription minutes do not carry over to the next billing period.
• Admin-gifted minutes expire based on the configured expiry period.
• Free minutes awarded to new users upon registration expire 30 days after signup.
• Minutes are calculated based on actual audio duration, rounded up to the nearest minute.
• AI Dubbing consumes minutes at a 1.5x rate (e.g. 1 minute of dubbing uses 1.5 minutes of quota).
• The system uses minutes in this priority: Subscription minutes (first) → Welcome bonus → Admin gift.

5. Refund Policy

All purchases are non-refundable. This includes subscription fees and unused minute quotas. After cancellation, the service continues until the end of the current billing period.

6. Cancellation

• You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings.
• After cancellation, the subscription continues until the end of the current billing period.
• After cancellation, your account will be downgraded to the free plan.
• Cloud storage will be reduced to the free plan limit. We recommend downloading or deleting files exceeding the limit before cancellation. The platform reserves the right to remove excess files after a reasonable period.

7. Cloud Storage

• Different plans offer different cloud storage quotas.
• Storage is used for uploaded video previews and audio files.
• When storage is exceeded, you must delete existing files or upgrade your plan to continue uploading.
• We do not guarantee permanent file storage. Please back up important data.

8. Intellectual Property

You retain all intellectual property rights to the video content you upload and the subtitles generated. The Service will not use your content for commercial purposes or share it with third parties. We only process your data as necessary to provide the Service.

9. Service Changes

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time. Pricing and plan features may change; we will notify existing subscribers in advance.

10. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is". AI-generated subtitles, translations, and dubbed audio may contain errors. We do not guarantee the complete accuracy of transcription, translation, or dubbing. AI Dubbing is currently in beta; dubbed content is generated by a third-party AI service and minutes deducted for dubbing are non-refundable. You are responsible for reviewing generated content before use.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be submitted to the jurisdiction of Hong Kong courts.

12. Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction to use the Service.
