How to Import Subtitles into Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and CapCut (剪映)
Export Your Subtitle File
First, after finishing edits in Hey Subtitle's subtitle editor, click the "Export Subtitles" button. You can choose to export in SRT or VTT format:
- SRT (SubRip) — The most universal subtitle format, supported by virtually all software
- VTT (WebVTT) — Web standard format, ideal for online video playback
Both formats can be imported into professional editing software.
Adobe Premiere Pro
Method 1: Direct SRT Import (Recommended)
- Open your Premiere Pro project
- Go to **File → Import** (or press Ctrl+I / Cmd+I)
- Select the .srt file exported from Hey Subtitle
- The file will appear in your Project panel as a caption asset
- Drag and drop the caption asset onto your timeline
- Subtitles will automatically align to the correct time positions
Method 2: Using the Captions Panel
- Open **Window → Captions and Graphics**
- Click **"..." → Import Captions from File** in the Captions panel
- Select your .srt or .vtt file
- Subtitles will appear in the Captions panel where you can further edit styles
Apple Final Cut Pro
- Open your Final Cut Pro project
- Go to **File → Import → Captions**
- Select your .srt file (Final Cut Pro natively supports SRT but not VTT import)
- Set the Caption Role and language
- Choose timecode alignment (Relative to Timeline or Absolute)
- Subtitles will appear in the Caption Lane at the top of the timeline
- You can adjust subtitle appearance in the Inspector
DaVinci Resolve
- Open your DaVinci Resolve project
- Switch to the **Edit** page
- Go to **File → Import → Subtitle**
- Select your .srt file
- Subtitles will appear on the subtitle track in the timeline
CapCut / 剪映
CapCut (known as 剪映 in Chinese) is a popular free video editing tool available on desktop and mobile. Both versions support SRT subtitle import.
Desktop
- Open CapCut desktop and create or open your project
- Click "Text" → "New Text" → "Import Local Subtitles"
- Choose the .srt file exported from Hey Subtitle
- Subtitles will be automatically parsed with synced timecodes
- You can also drag the .srt file directly onto the timeline area
Mobile
- Open the CapCut app, import your video and enter editing
- Tap the "Subtitles" icon on the left side of the timeline
- Select "Import Subtitles"
- Choose the .srt file exported from Hey Subtitle
- Subtitles will be automatically loaded and synced to the timeline
Tips
- Make sure subtitle timecodes align with your video before importing (Hey Subtitle's timecodes are based on the original video)
- For bilingual subtitles, select two languages when exporting from Hey Subtitle
- SRT has the best compatibility — if unsure which format to use, go with SRT
- Ensure your SRT file uses UTF-8 encoding (Hey Subtitle exports UTF-8 by default)
